If the minimum wage had kept up with inflation, it would probably be about $12 today.

I think it's more a lack of good paying jobs than minimum wage, and it's companies that want high skills for $10 an hour.

That's nuts, if you are driving that far for low wage, how is it worth it?

Although we get people from the other side of town that spend 3 hours a day on the bus to work (round trip). IDK why they do it. Did they burn through all the jobs on their side of town? Although I did have one black tell me, "I don't like working with a lot of other blacks, so I come out here to work". lmao...

It isn't worth it. The one company I can think of, a glass manufacturer, is used to having a captive audience. When I got a call from them, I literally told the caller that Amazon pays more, and L Brands pays even more than Amazon if you're a maintenance guy. She was just a deer in the headlights, and didn't understand.

"I don't like working with a lot of other blacks, so I come out here to work".

Yeah, even they don't like them. LOL

As if right on cue. I had a junk mail from McDonald's in my mailbox this morning. They are hiring crew at 11 and managers at 15.

I'm sure by managers they likely mean shift leaders.

Depending on the area, McDonalds actually pays a decent wage (but it's not full time...)

I've seen shift lead at McDonalds around here advertised for $18.
