He went through a stint, based on actual medical treatment, that caused him to be physically addicted and he self-checked into a treatment facility in Russia to save his life (the US didn't have such a facility). He would have died had it tried to stop taking those drugs, on his own. He required medical intervention. The idea that he was a drug-addict is a made up but false idea that Auth-Leftists created as a means to character assassinate. JP was open about what happened. This is also why I avoid taking any medications for my situations (I have ADHD) - I do not want any side effects that could harm my health. I took adderall for a month - I got physically addicted to it. That REALLY pissed me off. So I quit taking it and threw the rest out. Haven't taken any drugs since then except antibiotics and Tylenol when I get a headache/sick. Pretty safe life and if you're healthy enough, I recommend following that.
