Imagine having the highest taxes in the country and then being told "pay more" just so that liberals can keep their scams running (whatever the equivalent of Somalian daycares are in California).

The Los Angeles Times has decided that since California made them rich, it was only fair for them to pay up when the state asked for "a little something back."

Wait! If California made them rich, why isn't everyone there rich?

It’s doubtful any of the potentially affected affluents would feel the pinch, but it could make a world of difference for kids depending on free school lunches, or folks who need medical care but can’t afford it because they’ve been squeezed by a system that places much of the tax burden on them.

Let's guilt the billionaires now. Oh, and add a dash of abstraction to the overspending the state has so as not to blame Newsome. California has a spending problem, not a revenue problem.

Most people misunderstand how the tax works.

It’s not just an 8% of their value. It’s 8% of their total value including potential stock by the number of VOTING SHARES.

If a person owns a bunch of grade-A stock which grants them 10x the votes of a normal shareholder, then the rich person’s value is assessed at 10x for the tax.

In numbers, if some guy owns $1B in stock and it’s all grade-A 10x voting stock, the value is assessed at $10B. And so the assessed tax is $800M, NOT the $80M people think it would be.

It’s a super bullshit tax law calculation. I don’t blame the rich for fleeing this one bit.

Don't flee to my state if you're going to continue to vote Democrat...
