The Tragedy of Mamdani:

A Play in Five Acts

Dramatis Personae

  • Zohran Mamdani – The idealist torn between revolution and reality.
  • Elizabeth Simons – The paradox of progressive wealth, a patron with invisible strings.
  • George Soros – The ghost of influence, never seen but always felt.
  • The Chorus of Citizens – New Yorkers, weary and watchful, narrating the descent.
  • The Dissolutionmen – Shadowy figures who dismantle hope with bureaucratic smiles.
  • Hope – A personified spirit, fading with each act.
  • Duplicity – A trickster, whispering contradictions into every ear.
  • Responsibility – A jester, always passing the buck.

Act I – The Spark

Mamdani enters, cloaked in firebrand rhetoric. The citizens cheer. Simons watches from the wings, purse open. Soros’s shadow stretches across the stage. Hope dances in the spotlight.

Act II – The Mask

PACs emerge. Donations flow. Mamdani speaks of justice while Duplicity juggles his words. The Chorus begins to murmur. Responsibility slips behind the curtain.

Act III – The Storm

Critics rise. The contradictions mount. Simons defends her gift as “strategic.” Mamdani hesitates. Hope stumbles. The Dissolutionmen begin their slow march across the stage.

Act IV – The Fall

The citizens confront Mamdani. He deflects. Duplicity laughs. Responsibility shrugs. Soros’s ghost delivers a monologue on the cost of influence. Hope collapses.

Act V – Oblivion

The stage is empty. Campaign posters litter the floor. The Chorus sings a dirge. Mamdani exits, alone. The curtain falls. The audience is left wondering: was it tragedy, farce, or prophecy?
