I cannot recall the last time I listened to NPR or watched PBS. But this device called a smart phone I carry everywhere tells me things like when bad weather is coming. So why do we need NPR or PBS?

WTF are they talking about? The national weather service is part of NOAA and has nothing to do with PBS and NPR.

NWS broadcasts of weather activity are nationwide at these frequencies.
