I don't have a (((man cave))). I have a space where I have everything I need to do work, do my hobbies, create my music and generally relax in the ways that I prefer. There's a section for my work office, a section for my electronics and repair workbench, two music studio setups and a general purpose area for anything else I am working on. No TV, no vidya games, no bar/beer fridge and no wife or any other female influence in my multipurpose space. It's my space and I dictate the rules there.

I also have the garage for woodworking machines, my laser cutter and 3D printer, my tools and gear and my bikes. It's my space there too, but we also use it for some general storage. My wife has her own spaces and our shared spaces are typically neutral since neither of us care to be too caught up in design aspects. The house is nice and neat but not "designer-y" or trendy fashioned. We're practical people and we are more about entertaining family and friends than showing off. We have a bar, but it goes unused as we've moved on from that lifestyle. Got rid of the billiards table and dart machine for the same reason. Everything else is just used in practical ways so again there's no wasted effort on showing off.

This (((man cave))) is just a woman's control over her spineless man. It's useless and wasteful. It only serves her need to show of and be validated for being a (((good wife))) to other women. It probably doesn't get used much. What a fucking waste.

That is very much the point I've made to friends over the years. I don't have a designated Man Cave at the house because I don't need to be validated by my wife. I work on projects in the garage where my tools are located. There's no TV or bar there because neither of us watches much TV and I'll be damned if I am relegated to a specific area if I want to have a drink. If I want to use other areas of the house for tasks, I will. So will my wife.

During this past week she used the dining room table to wrap presents for a birthday party we were invited to. On Sunday I used that very same table to clean my guns after I came back from the range. Both of us cleaned up after ourselves because we're adults, and that's what adults do.

Being married is really pretty simple. Treat each other with respect.
