I mean the media reported the "don't say gay" law as don't say gay, and not what it was, that you can't talk about sex to kids under 4th grade without paternal consent or give medical treatment to a minor without informing the parents.

Other states such as Colorado allow this. There are penalties and other ramifications if it is not justified. I don't recall seeing stories where people are just blasting bears left and right.

Game wardens even supply complimentary rubber buck shot if you have a shotgun. The state is also required to pay for damages to property and livestock from bears etc...
