Why does the media accept this? The President IS the "Official Position" of the US government. Why does no one ask if the President's statements are not official, who is the official making the policy? If the Presidents words cannot be trusted, how can we make any treaties?

This is the correct takeaway. The unelected cabal puts out an "official" statement saying that the President of the USA and Commander in Chief doesn't speak for the USA or control the actions of the US military.
"Ignore that guy", they say, "He's not in charge"
funny I assumed the President decides what the official position is.
