they can unfortunately since their followers know they are the ones that started this and see how it's a disaster, but their "leaders" have now given them a lie to cling to so they don't have to admit they were wrong and can continue to believe the bullshit.
essentially, they value their feelings over truth. months ago their feelings said to support this and now that it is not really able to be supported since it's so fucking stupid and lead to the obvious conclusion, rather than admit they were wrong they just believe the new lie in which they now believe the complete opposite of what they said a few months ago.
