The same reason your gas bills won't go down if you ultra insulate your house. If the utility starts pulling in less money they'll just raise rates to compensate. Or they'll apply a bullshit "offset" charge. Not cold enough and you used less gas this month? Oh here's a $5 "weather impact fee." It's all a fucking racket designed to extract money from us. The only way to avoid it is to not play by generating your own energy.

Of course this is a lot of words just to say what vastrightwing already said.

My favorite example is EVs. (myev.com) Sure, politicians sold deplorables on the idea that EVs were going to save money. Except, in order to so, other taxpayers had to subsidize the few that bought them. Then, gradually, subsidies ended and then states started taxing EVs higher because they avoided the gas tax. Of course there's tons of other indirect costs EV owners face.

The more you spend the more you get charged. Everything is a money grab.

Spend 50k so your electric bills will be cheaper (in 20 years, until then, though are just pre-paying for your power).

Buy an electric car so you won't have any fuel bills! Except you add up the money and it makes no economic sense. Again, you are just pre-paying your fuel. No wonder why the DoE jews don't want basic math taught!
