Stoicism is a man subordinating his emotions and actions to his reason. This does not mean the elimination of emotion or the requirement that action comes only after extensive thought; to have a healthy emotional response and to take action in an urgent circumstance are also beneficial at times.

Scripture speaks to these as well:

“We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.” - II Cor 10:5

If we take every thought captive to Christ, we pass our emotions and decisions through His filter.

While at the same time, burying ourselves in inaction on the grounds that we must give the matter sufficient consideration is also a failure:

“Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin.” - James 4:17

Striking that balance is difficult, but we are called to be men, not beasts, and not women.

So as I assumed, these "new age Stoics" don't have much to do with Stoicism.
