There is a bit of doubt about the entirety of that quote.

"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies") is a slight misquotation of a statement Jefferson made in a letter to John Taylor in 1816.

There is no known attribution to the "If the American people..." section.

While I get what the goal of the person that faked the quote is, in the end it's counter productive.

This is exactly why I commented on the post. There's more than enough truth to counter their lies. We don't need to make up anything.
