I know you probably don't care, but I think Trump thinks he's doing the 'godly' thing by supporting the nation of Israel, for the people's sake. He likely believes in two camps, the evil "Zionists" and the people, whom he believes, whether true or not, are the ancient Hebrew people of the Bible.
