Look into the Phoebus cartel. They set the 1,000 hour life for light bulbs in 1925 and it's remained the same ever since.
And don't get me started about MuH LeD's.
LED's are built with shitty electronics, so any dirty power, from a fluorescent light bulb to an AC adapter on the same circuit will burn them out in... drum roll... about 1,000 hours.
The LEDs are the source of the 'dirty' power. When you slam a bunch of rectifiers in parallel, you change a second order sine function, into a fifth order blunted sine function.
I feel like led breaks more often less impact resistant etc and instead of having to change a bulb i now have to change the whole fricking light fixture sucks when you rent out stuff and the long tube lights dont even get me started on how worthless their led equivalent is.
