Hope indeed is a dangerous thing, but there are two types of hopelessness - a hopeless man who know that no one is coming to save him, so he just rolls over and "embraces the clown world", and a hopeless man that realizes no one is coming to save him so he abandons all hope, rolls up his sleeves and gets to work. The first kind of man needs his hope that the second man will come to guide him on how to get out of the mess he is in, without it he is dead.
