One has to wonder about if the war for independence was ever fought or not what would have happened? Would the Brits eventually have passed over the keys to the Kingdom just like they did Canada and a lot of their other colonies? Would that have been in enough time for Napoleon to hand over the Louisiana purchase? Would there have been in a way to buy the land further west from the Mexicans instead of having that war? Would the Indians eventually have assimilated with the settlers overtime or just dropped dead because of disease? I guess what I'm trying to figure out is it did America need to go to war for anything to become America or to keep America in the headlines?
