I just jewgled and it says 48% of people use self checkout exclusively. What the actual fuck is wrong with people?

When ALL the regular checkouts are closed for large parts of the day, people have few options.

This is because Walmart fosters an operations model where they give the store a threadbare labor budget for all the part time and full time employees and has 4 people on the entire sales floor doing the work of literally 20 associates. Then they have management "guilt trip" the associates if they "don't make metrics that means our budget will shrink and we'll lose even more full time associate positions and have to cut back on everyone's hours".

It's literally designed to almost fail, from an operations-efficiency standpoint. But it produces $$$ because they use self-checkouts. shrugs

I prefer to use a cashier that way if something doesn't scan and ends up in the bag it is the store's problem not me getting slammed into the hood of a cop car after I just provided 5 minutes of free labor. Plus fuck these things in particular for having approximate equivalents and not the actual item, that I then have to look up in a directory. 8oz whole milk and orange peppers have been specific examples.

It's the fastest way to get the hell out of there. Even if a regular checkout line, it's got Shinqueesha waiting for you, and as a lazy, dumb nigger, she's going to take about twice as long as you will just doing it yourself. Usually, though, the only checkout lines that are open are full of shoppers with carts full of shit. It's even worse when they've got a bunch of produce.
