It is a sad truth. It took me a long time to realize that my military service while of great benefit to my character was not to the benefit of my country. Every war in the last hundred plus years has been either something we shouldn't have meddled with or was us being on the wrong side. WWII was the worst, if we had joined the right side of that war we wouldn't have had any of the wars we have been involved in since. I still support veteran organizations though, like me most people who joined the military were young and just not really aware of some of the darker truths. More millennials like me should join those organizations, otherwise the boomers and gen xers will continue to gaslight younger generations on things like israel being our greatest ally (lulz) and how it is our duty to protect places like taiwan and ukraine. It sucks being a veteran and not having anyone who will be real with you on those things.
