While the invention of the printing press brought literacy and information and massive benefits to people all over Europe and the rest of the world. However, no body knows how many folk stories handed down through oral traditions were lost as they were replaced with stories written in books. A small fraction of these stories were captured, these are what we know of as fairy tales. Most of them are dark, and serve as a warning to children against some danger that they may encounter, usually a danger that is not particularly obvious, such as a devious witch (jew) intent on kidnapping them to a likely gruesome end.
