90s internet was great. Full of annoying ads but there was a real meaning behind 'surfing the web'. You could just browse and browse, stumbling upon all kinds of random and cool pages.

Now the internet is top-heavy with a handful of sites dominating traffic. Most places are thought suppressing shit holes. Go to jewgle and search for anything. After the first 2-3 pages the results are useless and you rarely get past 10-15 pages.

Where did the rest of the internet go? (youtube.com)

Do love me some TruthStream. I agree, the internet doesn't seem to have soul anymore.

Joogle has dogshit search results now. It's just an indexer of popular social media posts and store pages.

It's like the algorithms can't filter out all the wrong think so they are resorting to white listing things manually.

I'm surprised some Linux guy hasent created an open source web crawler you can run yourself and get unlisted results. Even if it takes a few days it would be worth it, and people could then link to good results on social media.

I think Searx is probably the closest thing to that right now

The only reason i ever started to use them was they auto placed the cursor in the search field. Now look at them. Imagine if lycos or netscape did something so simple?

Even my mom says Google sucks now, and she only does simple searches.

I'll take "Who is In-Q-Tel?" FOR $800, Alex

Shamefully, I remember recommending Google to people over AskJeeves

Lol is this real? It's true regardless...

Feel like an old man for remembering how clean and simple it was but I can't remember seeing this.

is this real?

It is, I remember back in pre-2000 when joogle was bragging about not being evil and sheeeit.

It was also created by the cia. As were all the giant mega-websites.

I don't buy that. I think the (((cia))) infiltrates, buys, or confiscates whatever wins the rat race. They have the power to simply take what is good.

I don't think it is centralized in the (((cia))) either. They are just one tool of the jews.

You're talking about Lifelog/Nosebook.

Yes but also. Just randomly in the lat 90s early 00s the naturally occurring big websites (that would all eventually be jewed anyway) like yahoo for search, myspace, etc. were in an extremely short time taken over. With the help of the (((media))) look up how twitter went from NOTHING to EVERYTHING after SXSW happened and news randomly started pushing twitter in it's broadcasts.

How do we make our own search engine?

We used to have a self-hosted searx instance, but with Poal growing, we focused on the video hosting instead.
