I am not ashamed to admit i absolutely love cleaning out the lint trap, man it usually comes of so cleanly

If it's mostly cotton it makes great firestarter material.

Most clothes are blends. It used to be a great fire starter when most clothes were cotton. Now you are burning plastic and it melts before it ignites and that ruins the effect.

Do people ever clean the lint out of their dryers? Or do they just buy new ones when the lint packs in so tight they stop working? This thought was in my mind recently when I cleaned the lint from my dryer after it started to make strange noises. I have to confess, the thought crossed my mind that it might be time for me to buy a new dryer.

After every load

Once every couple of years you should tip the dryer forward and take off the back panel to clean the vents. They're pretty big and it takes a toilet brush to do it.

Trust me, you won't regret it when one of the hi temp fusible links severs because it got too hot back there and you have to do it anyway. This way the honey isn't so anxious for you to buy a new one because she has to wait three days for the part to arrive.

I keep a spare taped to the back of the dryer now.

I do mine before every load.

Remember that song firestarter by prodigy?

I am forced to by a ventless all in one. If I fail to clear it and drain the water, an error message and cessation of function occurs. In standard dryers with vents lint is a great fire starter.

wat?

The writing prompt/comment is do you clean your dryer vent. My dryer vent is also a drain for excess moisture for my ventless dryer, so I have to clean it out from time to time.

Lint traps are a fire hazard if they aren't cleaned every few cycles. Probably moreso on older units.

I bought a dryer on Craigslist for $50. Cosmetically like new, but "we lost the lint trap and also it doesn't get hot." I took the back of it off, replaced the heating element($25), got a new lint trap ($10) and sucked out the fan and air ducts with a shop shopvac. I sucked out enough lint to make sweaters for a marching band. And also $7.34 in change.

One earring, too. Pretty, but worthless.

Couple of pills, too. That was a weird weekend. But I digress.

We've had it for 10 years, and it still works like new.

It is fucked up but true.

I only user a dryer sheets and towels. Everything else gets hang dried.

I rate this, "mostly false".

I can just make a new sweater out of it, problem solved.
