They may have been 'dirty' types that scattered uranium dust around to 'prove' it was a nuke blast, but the cities were never radioactive. Only ricepaper/wood structures were destroyed, not stone structures. A real nuke would flatten everything equally.
I think you're misunderstanding how small of a blast it was compared to the mega ton bombs of today. And yes the fall out was minimal due to the air bust and everything was gone at the ground zero. Beside, the amount of fuel for a blast that big would have required a much much bigger bomb. Like the MOAB of today. Sorry. You're not correct on this one.
