The point is: Neo-Pagans are saying he is ethnically Jewish when the Jews say he is not. From their perspective as Pharisees, he didn't appear to be 'Jewish', like them, yet he came from Galilee, spoke Hebrew and knew enough about their religious views. They wouldn't know if he was a Roman bastard or not, they can only come up with rationalisations behind what they could see/ hear.
