What was incorrect in the usage? The argument was that vaccinated people shouldnt have to be around unvaccinated people because they might get infected. This is an oxymoron becsuse they are vaccinated and protected from unvaccinated people.

It's technically correct nowadays I guess. That's not what an oxymoron used to be though. You're describing a type of logical fallacy, not an oxymoron.

Oxymoron is one of those words like ironic or droll (though I don't know if the definition of droll has actually changed yet). It was used incorrectly for so long that the meaning has been modified.
