Correction: they are apex predators. Cats are the ultimate killing machine. It doesn't matter the size or the kind. Cats are a perfect hunter killer predator.

Agree, you have to understand your animal if you are to love it. For understanding is the path to love. When you understand look how easy you adjust your behavior.
