Annoyed. If I can take the chance at having a big family despite all risks, when we live simply on a low income so i can stay home with them, what is everyone else's excuse? I'm in the 3rd trimester of what's technically a 'high risk' pregnancy due to the unnecessary t cut c section I was literally forced to have. I couldn't move to the rural place that seemed like home to me bc the hospitals nearby have an outright VBAC ban, some hospitals nearby that do VBAC still refused me bc of the t cut. I can't go to the hospitals in town, both bc of the t cut and the fact they almost killed me/forced surgery. The only hospitals I might be able to go to are between 1-2 hrs away. I am risking my life to bring another person into this world. I can understand a woman not wanting to attempt VBAC, or to avoid pregnancy if something is wrong with their health. The US c section rate is certainly contributing to our low birth rate. But most people I've talked to use financial reasons as an excuse. Sure life isn't as fun for us when it comes to having extra money for travel, fancy premade food/eating out, new electronics every year or a fancy car. We could live somewhere nicer if we didn't need 3 bedrooms. But these are necessary sacrifices. I almost guarantee every person I've heard say they can't afford a big family makes more than we do. Everyone needs to stop worrying about material possessions, and stop being afraid of birth if they wouldn't be high risk. I did want a big family. My fear of VBAC almost made me back out but I also had the nagging feeling I'd be contributing to the fall of western civilization if I cut our family short. If things go wrong in labor and I die will my sacrifice be for nothing? If every woman had my mindset we wouldn't have such low birth rates. I'm doing my part but it won't make a difference if the average woman in the US continues to have less than even 2 kids.
