>Designed, engineered, and built in America

Too bad they are gonna be electric. Hopefully they come out with a diesel or gas powered one soon. Cool rigs though.

Lots of videos on their website but they all look computer generated to me. They just don't move right in the videos. it's weird, I could be wrong.

This revival isn't just about nostalgia, it's about reimagining what made the Scout legendary

So essentially, we took everything about it (inexpensive, simple, rugged, could be beat on) and tossed that out the window to make a an Electric Toureg with a I-H badge. Kind of like what Linksys did with the WRT54GL's successor - they forgot what made that still useful device popular and just stuck their badge on a turd.

It should be Diesel !!

It should be Diesel !!

It should run on unrefined crude oil, strip mined anthracite coal, rendered whale blubber, mighty redwoods and enriched uranium. Oh, and Greta Thunberg's tears.

So you want the military version. Does it burn? Can you inject it? We can run on that.

The Goblin-Child's tears may not work, they're just salt.

The videos are 100% fake and gay.

Back in high school, my best friend had a 1977 Scout II. We got up to all kind of insanity in that truck, and so of course I had to have one.

A year later, I had my own 1977 Scout II. And I kept that truck, and drove it all over Tarnation for 20 years. Took it off-roading, to the desert, to the great redwood forests, towed vehicles, camped in it ... whatever. I did a lot with that truck.

Even got in to two accidents. First time a Mercedes 300TE station wagon ran a stop sign and I plowed her at about 30mph. Second time an Oldsmobile Cutlass Cruiser ran a stop sign and I plowed that car at about 35mph. Truck survived both incidents and walked away from both with not even a scratch or bump.

I was sad to see it go. Was it the best 4x4 ever designed? No. But it was unique and it was tough.

I have big doubts about this new electric vehicle.

First, it's very rare to see a modern vehicle what can stand up to what it should. The new Ford Bronco is a good example of that failure.

Second, being electric, it's going to run in to the very same problem we see with every single other electric vehicle out there: range. Would I ever take a large electric vehicle off-roading? Oh hell no. I wouldn't even feel comfortable driving an electric vehicle to Morey, NV (look that up for some fun) and that's only about 25 miles off road - not too far.

And finally, this thing is being born under the VW flag. Yeah, yeah, it's being designed and built in America. Sure. As long as the Germans have their fingers connected to the money, you're going to see some German in the vehicle. Now, the Germans don't build ~bad~ cars. But they build very different cars. Hold up a Ford F150, and then find any German vehicle what fits that bill. I can't think of one (educate me if you can). I feel like this thing will feel more like a Touareg than an American truck.

If it ever gets here, I'll go see it. But I'm pretty sure I won't be buying one.

I haven't heard anything bad was going on with them. They sure are cool looking. What's the issue?

I wouldn't buy the new scout just for being electric. I will wait to see one on the freeway.

The overall build quality of the new Bronco isn't great and they're experiencing a lot of issues and failures. Not a very rugged vehicle, despite the appearance.

That sucks, they sure look bad ass. Looks can be deceiving I guess!
