Like a special route for business?
ho ho ho kek I didn't even notice, but yeah more like a limited freeway to speed up both vehicular and commercial travel
Highway pavement design is strongly determined by large truck loads and the resulting deflection of the pavement as the trucks rumble by. Cars, in contrast, barely cause a ripple. As I recall it's like 1 large heavy truck load causes the same damage as thousands of car loads - something like that. That's why you have load stations along the freeway, and they never measure cars, only the weight of large trucks.
In my humble opinion, it would be cheaper for everyone to have flying cars.
It was suggested decades ago to build the "regular" interstate 'up' (like an overpass or interchange) and to have the trucks have their own interstate on the actual ground. Would have been insanely expensive, but would have been interesting to see.
A portion of the New Jersey Turnpike is divided. One side for cars and trucks; one for cars only. There are a few other roads like that scattered across the country but it is cost prohibitive and requires a lot more land.
We did. That's what the interstate was.
Too expensive
Not a bad idea. But first I would rather see them stop making roads using petroleum products. Oh and tires too. With all of our technology and "great minds" we are still building our roads and tires with petroleum products? To me this seems really stupid. We wouldn't have to pay taxes for road crews to do a shitty job fixing the roads if they made them properly in the first place. Job security... If they really fixed the roads they wouldn't have that extra tax money to steal and not actually put towards what it was paid for.
Even better would be transporter technology, like on Star Trek.
lol I've been saying this forever.
No.
