I see them open a lot in WA. Gotta collect that revenue!

They have load cells built into the roads here so all they have to do is pull their car close to one and they can watch your weights. They look like 2 triangles built into the edge of the lane and a square across the lanes and they have a silver box in the ditch like street lights do. Some of them even have a camera pointed towards the scale so they can watch remotely. They have no signage and they don't make it obvious what they are I only know because I've been caught. They also carry scales in their pickups so they can just weigh you anywhere.

Never seen those. What's Texas doing then?

I don't know what TX is doing, I haven't been down there in probably 5 years and it was just to pick a truck up. I only stay in my two state area mostly but the next state over used to have a scale open all the time and now they can't get any help to run it so maybe TX just can't get anybody to do the DOT enforcing.

I don't know why anybody would want to do that job, The tickets can be so high it can ruin a small company all because somebody takes a wrong turn.

What state? Some states pay less attention to weight and more attention to compliance.

For example: North Carolina scales are usually wide open (banker hours) and pulling every truck in. But in South Carolina, we are more likely to get randomly pulled over for an inspection.

Texas

Ah. Can't remember what the scales were like there. Haven't been to Texas in a while. Used to go to Laredo fairly often to grab shit coming out of Mexico.

TDOT will gladly inspect and fine.
