I know I can just use the road atlas but I was wondering if anyone knew of any apps or websites that assist in dodging weigh stations.

I'm rarely over weight on my axels and it's even less common for me to be over gross but I'm currently over on both (The one time a shipper loads me and they mess everything up.) It's been a pain in the ass to have to keep pulling over to check the map and find a route around the scales every time I get near one.

I only have 1 more scale to get around this trip and I already found my route. This is more for future reference.

By a couple cans of helium from Walmart and if your over weight empty them out inside the trailer and shut the door real quick.

Wouldn't t be easier to just use the helium to inflate 6 big balloons and strap em to the side of the truck and just float over the scales? I saw that work with The Mach 5 on Speed Racer once.

Lol. If nothing else I at least know there are other drivers on here.

Maybe you should tell who ever loaded the fucking trailer that they have got to take some of that shit off

I'm pulling a bulk tanker. I was there for almost 9 hours and I would have had to blow the extra off. Even then, it wouldn't have fixed my drive axels. So I said fuck it. Throw the seals on so I can roll.

You are the one responsible for following the laws on load weights, I would have told them to fuck off and get it right and make them pay you for the time of your they wasted

I am paid the entire time I'm there. It's 25/hr but I could make a lot more with an extra run instead of wasting my time there. What I'm getting at is I made the choice to just run it. I usually don't have a problem there but I also usually load my own trailer.

Yes, they messed up and they would have fixed it if I asked them to. I decided to run it. That's why I'm asking for future reference because this isn't a regular thing for me.

If I knew I'd help you out.

I found a website but it has that 90s feel to it. Seems correct on routes so far but I'm worried how up to date they are.

Anyway, here's the website if anyone else gets in my predicament: https://www.truckstopsandservices.com/location_details.php?id=5283

Edit: By the way, I did try their app and it's complete trash. It was basically a terrible version of Trucker Path.

You're a driver, you're 99% contracted and not an "employee". You make the rules. Why isn't there a line in your contract to stipulate for this? Seems it would be in all drivers' contracts.

Honest question why are there wieght limits and scales?

Revenue. Plus the heavier we are on the axels, the harder it is on the road. Ever see those "Trucks use left lane" signs in construction zones? They do that because they're using the shoulder as a right lane temporarily and we will tear that shit up.

They also pull us in for truck inspections and to make sure our logs are in compliance. It's easiest to just run at night as most scale masters run banker hours.

I drive out of state for work. So I never have to hit the stations. Honestly sometimes truckers piss me the fuck off. I get it your hauling heavy shit. However, passing another semi doing 65mph in a 75. While your truck can only do 68mph. So it takes you 10 fucking miles to pass. While I was doing 75. Very annoying. I would be ok with sperate lanes.

I'm with you on that. I try to stay out of the way as much as possible. We're governed faster than most though so I'm usually keeping up with most of yall.

Can you post the time it took you to run your 'weightless' route, vs the time it would've taken directly?

The roads can handle only so much weight at once so state gov wiegh trucks with 3 or more axles and charge them accordingly to fix and repair the roads and bridges. that money never does that, but it's the though that counts, really.

Some states it doesn't matter how many axles. Florida for example. You're technically supposed to pull into that agriculture station even if you're just renting a uhaul. They'd pull me in all the time even when I was pulling an empty flat bed...

Probably added about 30 minutes total. Indiana and Kentucky were surprisingly easy to get around. Hell you can see the scale from the state highway in Indiana.

Edit: Tack on another 15 minutes. I forgot about the Wisconsin one.
