I'm a working professional and have a good career, but seeing how in demand truckers are I've considered getting a CDL license if for no other reason just to have. Is it worth it? Is it hard to get? Any tips from the pros?

Yes. Totally worth it.
No. Not worth it if youre not really considering driving full time.

I don't know about your AO but here you can get a Class E drivers license. (Also called a Chauffeur License).

Here it let's you drive company cars and some larger vehicles like box trucks up to 26' long w/o air brakes that are 16,000# (or something like that) and under commercially. It's not really the same but it can give you a real taste of what it's like . The investment is usually way less. Here it was just a written test with NO driving portion plus a fee.
