I got into hotshot trucking so I do t have to do truck stops anymore. It’s definitely better.

How are the sleepers in those pickups? I've heard everything from they're trash to they're 10× better than a condo sleeper.

Also, I feel for yall. Not going to lie. If I'm near a hotshot just before a scale, I make sure they're in front of me... But I'm the first one on the radio cussing and bitching when I see a hotshot behind the scale. "Why are yall always picking on them?!!"

Story a coworker told me years ago.

Semi comes in for service. Mechanics are looking it over. Notice from underneath that there's a hole that goes right up into the cab.

Mechanics ask the Paki truckers - How? Why? What could have caused this? Etc.

Pakis say that they made the hole so that they could shit and piss without stopping.

Mechanics told them to get the fuck out of there and never come back.

Driving truck is a hard job, especially nowadays, with every motion recorded by the truck's computers, strict rules about breaks combined with regulations on drive time, and the constant need to support the company's bottom line; employees cost a lot of money, if you can get 10 stops done in 10 hours, why not 12?
Truckers still get paid well, but the job still sucks. It's a dying trade and most of the workforce is over 45. I feel bad for 'em, pissin in bottles like Amazon employees.
I'm not a trucker myself but I've met more than a few, never met one I didn't like.
