When i got married it was required we met with a old couple that has been married for 50+ years. The old lady looked my wife straight in the face and told her he's your husband not your child don't get them confused. The old man told me take care of your woman or someone else will

Catholic thing. It was helpful they gave us alot of info i forgot alot but i remember some of it. Was over 20 years ago.

Thats actully very biblical since you are suposed to seek out wise counsel and older women are supposed to teach yonger women.

I know the pastor that married us usually did counseling with newly married couples. We kind of fell through the cracks a bit with this though. Although years later he did counsel us through some hard times.

I don't think it is something that can a couple never fix but I can see it being hard. Also the women is the one that more often files for divorce.

Something he did not add was that if a women is constantly being disrepectful then that is how she will be thinking too which adds to the disrepectful behavior.

Women also tend to gain the most from divorce. If you get the kids and support payments, there isn't a whole lot of downside from many's perspective.
