And to fathers, spend time with your kids, be wise and don't abuse them (physically and verbally). Also, know how to handle your spouse and kids. That's part of why I don't talk to my father. I'm fortunate to have my stepdad and the many male mentors I have in my life.
Good advice, I'll add to it try to be better than your father was even if just a little. Every generation we can do just a little bit better and we pass that on to our kids.
Make sure you explain things to your kids instead of just yelling at them. That's what my dad did. My stepdad may be stern with me at times but he explains things to me so that I understand them (I still live at home and I respect the authority of my elders)
I try my best. I'm sure I fail from time to time but I'll never give up.
