Another reason not related to nutrition is that the act of breastfeeding is much more intimate between mother and baby because it's time spent together, and there is more skin on skin contact. Children that feel loved and supported generally go on to do much better as adults, than children that were either abandoned or didn't get as much attention when they were little, leading to feelings of abandonment, low self esteem, etc.
Strange that this talks about going to 3 mo then maybe 6 when the recommendation in the US as far as i'm aware is 1 year. I wen't over a year with both my girls, I can't say it made them smarter but it sure did help with keeping them healthy.
Also as much as I am for breast feeding I do know a pretty high IQ man who was formula fed as a baby.
I've learned in my courses that breastfeeding does boost IQ. Though, when we learned this, we didn't look at controlled trials, or anything of the sort.
Poison slop can't be too good for babies, but look how empowering it is for women.
Unlikely, correlation is not causation. More likely attention from the parents is what helps.
