I think the psy-op about men being too weak to handle the delivery room or too disengaged to care is just as poisonous as the psy-op co-opting pregnancy/labor/delivery as muh womyn goddess empowerment.

My wife has delivered all of our children 100% naturally. With our first, she would have ended up needing a c-section if I hadn't been there commanding her to breathe when she was holding her breath while trying to push, and just existing as a reminder that doing everything in her power to deliver our child naturally was expected of her even if the nurses are offering the easy way out.

And any more, fathers should be there just to make sure their baby is actually cared for the way he and his wife have requested. Nurses often have no problem ignoring parents' wishes if they think think they know better.
