People who think in platitudes can't build civilization because they can't build anything. Nobody built a bridge with trendy sayings and intentionally trying to do a bad job. Nobody maintained a damn the same way. Nobody maintained a civilization that way either. It's these people and the socialists who are at fault. They are both people more interesting in looking cool and sounding smart in one given moment, than actually thinking about problems and applying care to important issues. Basically what he is arguing by saying "man is not that civilized, we need to prepare for harder times because of apparent collapse. Therefore what we are doing is smart." Is the same as saying man is not that disease resistant. Look we can already see the signs.
