What is the best liquor pairing that you've found to smoke with, that is under $30 per 750ml? At Sam's Club, you can get a 1.75L bottle of E&J for $20. I have found that on the rocks, it goes exceptionally well with rubustos and Connecticut's, as well as with the harsher pipe tobacco. On the slightly more expensive end, Cedar Ridge whiskey or Woodford Reserve on more of a "special occasion" such as hosting.

I like pairing plastic jug whiskey with hot pockets and 20 hours of sleep a day., waking occasionally to refresh my stupor. It's a nice break from clown world.

I heard the BPAs make it taste better.

Yep, and adds just a little kick. Extra buzz for me!

I'm going to completely ignore the price part, because I haven't lived in the USA for years and don't know what the liquor prices are like over there anymore... But I really like to have bourbon and Coke when I smoke aromatic pipe tobacco. Jim Beam Devil's Cut, or just regular Jim Beam.

I have the proverbial sweet tooth, so aromatics and the sweetness of the Coke work well for me. I'm not as fond of the "English" style pipe tobaccos, although I will buy some on occasion.

I just realized that most of the ones I have liked so far are English style of pipe tobaccos. Then again, I do not like really anything sweet. So what is your go to tobacco then?

If you like brandy, give Cognac a try. It’s the same difference between sparkling wine and champagne; cognac comes from a specific region and has to be made following specific rules. I like Remy Martin a lot, should be in the same price range as Woodford

I've been wanting to give that a try. Thank you for the suggestion!

Jameson black barrel can be found for around that price point. It’s a good whiskey to smoke with. Personally though, I’d go for something at a higher price point.

How often do you smoke? I do at least a bowl or stick a day, but only drink Friday and/or Saturday. Is black barrel above normal Jameson?

I don’t smoke that often, usually out camping or shooting. Black barrel is above normal Jameson, it’s the best of their blends in my opinion. If you want something special, get Middleton rare. A very good bourbon for the value is Eagle rare, and goes well with a cigar.

I got a bottle of Woodford Reserve as a gift a couple months ago, so that's what I've been pairing with mine if I decide to drink with my cigar. Prior to that, I would go with Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition ($37 for 750ml unfortunately) but I'm a homer for Irish whiskey. If I'm drinking a beer with it, I go with a stout since an IPA would burn out my tastebuds.

Never had brandy, but I'd be willing to give E&J a go.

My boss gave me two bottles of Woodford Reserve Blue Label for Christmas. I am saving those for a really special event. I've never really tried Irish Whiskey... I do know that Scotch-blended whiskey tastes worse than ass. Even Johnny Walker Blue is disgusting. I would recommend giving it a go, since you can pick up a small bottle for around $10. Just let the ice melt slightly, it'll take the bite off.

Cool, thanks for the recommendation. I can count on one hand the number of times I've had Scotch, and it's definitely my least favorite of American/Irish/Scotch whiskey. Irish whiskey is triple distilled and heated over smokeless peat, so I think that's what drew me to it prior to me smoking cigars. I used to only have cheap flagship American whiskey, and they tasted like a dirty chimney by comparison. I guess if you're more steeped in cigars and seek out the better brands, American whiskey is probably better.

Let me know what you think of the brandy and tobacco combo. I may pick up a bottle of jameson for cards tomorrow night.
