this is what happened. i had been dating renae for a couple months. i drove out to her house for a visit. she wasn't at home, but her new puppy (name escapes me) came running out to the car to greet me. as i opened the car door , i noticed that although the dog, with his tail wagging madly, appeared jubilant to see me, he was crying and moaning and was obviously in great pain. "what's wrong, baby?", i asked. i lifted the puppy up to take a look, and saw a small brown stem poking from his nose about a 1/4". the puppy was struggling and crying and it was difficult to get my fingers on the stem. Finally i got a grip and slowly removed a large thick blade of grass coated with blood, approximately 6" long, from the puppy's right nostril.
