Saw this last night in tiny little theater: https://www.biggestlittlefarmmovie.com Desert to balanced ecosystem in 7 years. They continually reiterate how it's all about the soil, just like you say. Raw depiction of the challenges and how they solved 'em. Coyotes, fires, snails, birds, etc. Also the wildlife photography is incredible, way way better than I had any right to expect.
