When my mother started to get advance dementia she actually became a nicer human. We put all of our past bullshit behind us. It wasn't really a conscious choice, it just didn't matter anymore. She was my mother but in a different capacity, we became more like peers which was weird but more enjoyable. Because then we could talk like equals. I wish I had more time in that capacity but all God gave me was 6 months, but at least I had that.
