For the most part, rehab is separated by gender. My floor was entirely male, and your interaction with females was limited. Your would get Female Therapists, RA's, and Nurses, but you would have no female peers. You wouldn't have any members of the opposite gender going through what you were going through with you. This makes sense. Rehab is full of Alpha Males who cannot control their impulses. Even the optional AA meetings were segregated by sex. Part of the cafeteria was cordoned off with folding chairs for these meetings, with a path down the middle, and the rule was simple, guys on the left, girls on the right. I did not know this rule, and I sat on the right. For some reason, nobody ever corrected me. Probably because I was wearing a hat and psychotically scribbling in my journal. Not a lot of people attended the optional AA meetings, but this was not the case for the Open Mic Night.
