Today began much like every day previously, but all similarity to previous days came to an end quite quickly.
After waking, I progressed through my usual morning routine in preparation for the day, just as I have done every day prior. This is when the first strange occurrence happened.
As I finished up with my morning tasks and prepared to step through my door, I realized I still had twelve minutes remaining before I should have been ready to step through the door.
I had awoken at the exact time that I do every day. Having awoke earlier than I ever have in the past wasn't the cause of the extra twelve minutes.
As it is physically not possible for me to have done things quicker than I should have been able to do them, that wasn't the source of the extra time. Having twelve minutes still before I was supposed to be ready to head out meant I must have skipped a step and not done something today for the first time ever. While unlikely, it was still possible.
I quickly checked to ensure I didn't somehow skip any part of my normal routine, but I found that everything was done perfectly. Despite knowing what I would find, I also checked that everything also took the same amount of time to perform as every day prior. It did, as expected.
There were just twelve extra minutes in the morning.
How could that be possible? What could possibly explain this? I would need to ask others if they also experienced this and, if so, what the cause of it could be. I then ventured out beyond my door 12 minutes earlier than I have ever done before.
After taking a moment to breathe in the wonderful, morning air, just as I have done every day prior, I raised my head and peered up at the ocean above me. I was ready to marvel at the beauty of the way the sunlight filtered through the water this early in the day and how the refracted light danced upon every surface, as I do every morning. However, today, something seemed...off. Today, something was different up there.
