in my youth i was young
though it never held me back
as i aged i got older
and found time a nagging fact

toc tic the clock persists
'you're running out of time.'
i'm not so quick but must insist
'you're running in rewind.'

'now night will follow day
instead of the reverse.
i'll pay you no mind anyway
if you continue so perverse.'

'you can't pay in mind
who could make change so small?'
it was what i though i'd find
speaking with a clock on a wall

in my youth i was young
i lamented every loss
as i aged i got older
and learned life is worth the cost
