I did not get fired, responsibilities were rearranged in a way that actually makes sense. Me and my counterpart were splitting two applications and the country, now we each have one application and the whole country.
It was a sideways move that can be made to look like a promotion on a resume, so I guess I should be happy about that.
Hopefully this change gives you a better situation that you can work with and be less stressed out. It's important to note that they decided to make this change because they obviously value you and/or your work enough to try to fix the issues rather than simply get rid of you. It's potentially a good thing so make of it what you will.
