When you do order people to remain indoors the levels of compliance seem to correlate strongly with the perceived risk (e.g. compliance was very high in northern Italy in early 2020 as their death rates were very high, compliance has been poor in Ireland where people generally don’t feel there is much risk). “Bring out your asymptomatic and mildly ill” will never have the same impact as “bring out your dead.”
