IIRC, he gave it away to a subscriber at the completion of the project. I suspect Chris doesn't need the money as he does seem to be well off or at least very comfortable. And speaking of expensive and time consuming hobbies, I wonder what he could do if he set his sites on making a fancy equatorial mount. He's making an Antikythera Mechanism replica so a EQ mount would be a walk in the park for him I'm sure.
Yeah, these mounts are relatively simple all things considered. But I pay the lazy tax because I don't want to make my own just to have to troubleshoot all of the issues that arise from my general lack of precision when using CAD. I think most of the software is proprietary too.
Edit: My current mount isn't technically equatorial though. Its a bit different than normal. https://www.ioptron.com/product-p/7200.htm
