"ROAD MAY FLOOD" was the text on the yellow road sign. Given the circumstances, it felt like irony to Kayla - the entire valley had flooded, much less the road. She could have boated to the highway rest stop a mile distant. Nobody had boats out here, though - the desert made fools out of boat owners
And Kayla was there. Alone.
Surrounded by an river that never should have been there.
There would be no boats out here, and cars or trucks wouldn't be able to pass for another day or two, and then she would be dead.
She was stuck, out in a random valley in a random western state, in a real danger.

She said, ready to be rescued from the oncoming deluge.
The light approached more rapidly, and a beam, suddenly shown down upon her, as she was pulled up from her precarious perch, and brought unto salvation.
Praise Jesus, and praise the Father, and the Holy Ghost, and all who are responsible for my salvation!
And she saw beings all around her, glowing with light, and was thankful.
And the beings said unto her:
Miss, this a routine Alien abduction, please set your expectations accordingly.
