"It's too much," said Samantha. "I can't just take this from you - you have yourself to look after!" But Joey wouldn't be swayed. Unnoticed by either, the gift grew a fraction in size.

Samantha looked around in fear, and put the helmet onto her spacesuit.

Her fingers slowly edged towards the emergency open button next to the air-lock.

Saaa-man-thaaa

Joey had always been a sweetheart, a tall, honorable go-getter, another astronaut on the space station that seemed to love her, but was unwilling to break protocol and ask he out. She always thought he would ask her to marry him once they got back to Earth.

Saaammmm-anth-haaaa

The Alien parasite had infected him, and appeared to be absorbing the biomass of mice and insects they had brought into space for experiments, through a long series of black tendrils. It had already absorbed Joey, and it seemed like it had his memories, too.

AAYwillll give youuuu my hearrttt

The Joey-Parasite opened up it's chest cavity, and forcefully projected a pulsating, throbbing, bloody heart, that slowly floated towards her in the Zero G. It was covered with blood, and the black, alien, parasitic goo. It kept growing.

AhhhLLL do anyythinggs for youuuuu, Saaaa-mannn-Thhaaaa. Youuu can havvve mahhhh harrts

It was a sweet gesture, both from Joey, and the Parasite, but they didn't understand what love really was.

Love was Samantha thinking about her Husband and Child back on Earth.

Love was not letting the Alien Parasite land with them.

Love was opening the Airlock and dying alone in space.
