Honestly, depending on what, this has been true for a LONG time.

From the post:

>Something unusual is happening in the world of gifting. I saw it during the recent holiday season—and you may have too. The Wall Street Journal noticed it a few weeks ago. People are now buying secondhand gifts. The sheer numbers are staggering—in a recent survey, 82% of consumers said they’re more likely to purchase pre-owned items for holiday presents.

Yeah, I saw a post on HackerNews for this exactly. Someone built a "AI tool" so you can just take a picture of something in a thrift store and it shows you it's resale value for sites like ebay. As if it wasn't already completely fucked by people doing stuff like that.

It might be worth it to work there as an employee who sorts new items just to get first dibs on them.

A part-time job for a part-time side gig while still working full time and on-call. Yeah, I am going to pass on that one but I guess I probably won't ever be a millionaire with that mindset.

On another note. I should start checking out thrift stores for old computers/servers. Some actually have those. Buying them for re-selling the RAM alone would be worth it. Too bad most of that ends up going to recyclers. Maybe government auctions is a better choice.....

I was thinking more of something to do in retirement, or just go all in if I get sick enough of my current work.

eBay does this already. So does Amazon.
